The Last Song is a coming of age novel, a bildungsroman. It tells the story of protagonist Veronica “Ronnie” Miller and how she grows as a person over the course of a summer. The novel is told in flashback from Ronnie’s perspective and from the perspectives of different characters in each chapter.
